Schaftdurchmesser Gabel Pino 2 Steel?

Beitragvon PinoGrigio » 28.04.2013, 09:33

Hallo,

Ralf

Did you find the answer? I'm also wondering if the Pino 2 Steel has a 1" or 1-1/8" threaded fork steer tube diameter.

Answering my own question for the benefit of other readers. The Pino 2 Steel has:

[*] a head tube inside diameter of 44mm
[*] a 1" threaded headset with some of the toughest looking bearings I've ever seen
[*] aluminum integrated headset cups pressed in, with what looks like Red Loctite but is probably just paint flakes

It is possible to replace the Pino 2 Steel's headset to fit a 1-1/8" threadless steer tube, but be careful to use strong, strong components. I fit a 1.5" lower external bearing on mine to be safe.

See my fork replacement album here.

I am selling stainless steel press-fit head race steering arms to convert a Pino 2 Steel from a Spinner GRIND fork to a modern suspension fork. Contact me!

I replaced my leaky, rusty, damping-free Spinner Grind with a MEKS / MEKKEM carbon air/oil fork this year and am quite happy with it. The mechanicking took a little doing but the cost was quite reasonable - about 1/4 of a White Bros all told including new headset and custom Pino Alu-style steering arm.

Danke, Antony!
